Rocky’s Market Announces Grand Opening of Brooklyn Basin Location

Oakland, Calif. (July 1, 2020) – Corinne Kinczel and Brady Bellis, owners of Rocky’s Market, are thrilled to announce the grand opening of their second location, Rocky’s Market Brooklyn Basin on Friday, July 10, 2020. Located in the beautifully restored historic 9th Avenue Terminal Building along Oakland’s waterfront, the redesigned industrial market space features locally-sourced organic produce, grocery items, artisanal products, craft beer, and local wine. The new restaurant, The Kitchen at Rocky’s Market, will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu items that are available for take-out or on the new outdoor patio.

“Our vision for Rocky’s Market Brooklyn Basin is to create a community-oriented place to shop and dine, while honoring our mission to serve the local neighborhood,” said Kinczel. “We are inspired by the rich and colorful history of the area and are excited to be a part of Brooklyn Basin’s vision to revitalize and complement Oakland’s vibrant waterfront.”

To celebrate the grand opening, through the weekend of July 10, 11, and 12, Rocky’s Market Brooklyn Basin will donate a portion of sales to Nourish the People, Inc., a foundation created by Corinne and Brady to supply groceries to local families in need. Guests will also be offered free Highwire coffee, gift card giveaways, and the first 25 customers each day will receive a Rocky’s Market travel mug, filled with Highwire coffee or Numi tea.

Rocky’s Market
Rocky’s Market focuses on a well-curated assortment of products, including organic produce from local favorites, Full Belly Farm and Blossom Bluff Orchards. They source sustainable meats and dairy, fine cheeses, and artisanal goods from various local brands, such as Grand Bakery, Cult Crackers, and Granola Guru. Rocky’s Market boasts an impressive local and international wine and craft beer selection, and a vast selection of ciders and sake. The market features prepared foods from Rocky’s in-house catering company, Two Local Girls, which offers delicious salads, sandwiches and pantry items using organic, local, and sustainable ingredients, as well as healthy take & bake meals with a focus on convenience, nutrition, and freshness. Gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and vegetarian options are available. A full coffee bar, located inside the market, serves locally roasted Highwire Coffee, baked goods from Berkeley-based Starter Bakery, and Manhattan-style organic bagels from Berkeley’s Boichik Bagels.

A mural, designed by local high school student Vincent Truong, is located above the coffee bar and speaks to the artistic and communal atmosphere of Rocky’s Market. In commissioning the artwork, Brady and Corinne contacted the Oakland School for the Arts, which held a competition for the mural. Brady and Corinne asked students to design a mural based on a 1930s photo of the 9th Avenue Terminal interior. They selected Truong’s design from an impressive pool of over 60 entries.
